Grant Information

Grants for research on specific diseases and other health ailments affecting Great Danes are based on scientific merit and established protocols.  The Grant Review committee solicits, reviews, and  recommends proposals to the board based on importance of those which will have the greatest benefit to the Great Dane.

The major diseases currently affecting our Danes are bloat, cardiomyopathy and cancers of all types.  We intend to review  and participate in medical grants  in these areas of concern as well as any other appropriate Dane health issues needing our research efforts.

The Foundation, through its efforts, can direct funding to very specific canine medical research in a timely fashion toward the studies that will have the most beneficial impact for our breed.  This can include grants directly from our Foundation to research of our choice, as well as to partner on joint projects with other canine health foundations where it benefits the Great Dane.
