Your Dog's Teeth

Your dog has stronger teeth than you do. The enamel on a dog's tooth is considerably harder than our so they are better protected against cavities. However, over time they need to be cared for. Starting a routine as early as possible is essential for the health of your dog's teeth.

1. Dogs love to chew, so let them! By offering rawhide or synthetic bones, you will be assisting your dog in maintaining healthy gums and teeth.
2. Hard foods should be fed daily. The rough texture helps scrape away build up on the teeth.
3. Your dog needs to have its teeth brushed! Don't use human toothpaste because it is too strong. Instead, use an over sized tooth brush or a rough cloth with either store bought toothpaste (for dogs) or a mild past made from baking soda and water. At least twice weekly, brush your dog's teeth. This will help prevent problems later on.
