Basic Obedience Training

What's the best age to start training your puppy? Some claim that you shouldn't start training until 6 months of age. Although it is true that most dogs won't retain much until they get to be 6 months of age or so, there are still several key commands they must learn and are capable of learning early on. Here are a few, accompanied with good reasons for teaching them early.

Teach them to:

So That

Come They
won't run off and potentially become a casualty
Sit So
that they won't jump up
Only
chew on their own toys
They
won't ruin your things
Let
you pet them
They
won't chew on your hands

Enjoy being groomed and examined

They
will permit their groomer and veterinarian to care for them
Walk
on a leash
They
won't pull you around on the leash
Stay They
will learn patience and self control
