Good Dog Beef Biscuits
(submitted by Debbie Piotrowski)
(Great Dane Club of Western New York)

½ cup dry milk 1 egg
2 tsp. minced garlic
1 tsp. parsley
6 Tbsp corn oil
2 tsp. honey
2.5 oz jar beef baby food
½ cup beef broth
½ cup rye flour
1 cup wheat flour
½ cup rice flour
½ cup cracked wheat

For the glaze:

1 egg 2 Tbsp beef broth

In large bowl, combine dry milk, egg, garlic, parsley, oil, honey, baby food, and broth. Gradually blend in the flours and cracked wheat. Add enough wheat flour to form a stiff dough.

Roll out to ¼ inch thick.

Using a bone shaped cookie cutter, make biscuits.

Transfer to ungreased baking sheets

Gather up scraps, roll out again, and cut additional biscuits until all dough is used.

Bake at 325° for 10 mins on each side.

Whisk together the egg and broth for the glaze.

Brush glaze onto one side of cooked biscuit. Put back into oven for an additional 5 mins. Flip biscuits over, glaze the other side and return them back to the oven for another 5 mins.

Hint: If you want to cut corners, glaze both sides of biscuits at once and return to oven. I have found that they usually stick to the baking sheet by doing it this way. That is why I do each side individually.

Let cool on "high" counter (out of nose range).

I use a 3" x 1" bone shaped cookie cutter and get 4 ½ doz biscuits from this recipe.
