As the Chairman of the Education Committee of the Great Dane Health Foundation of America, Inc., I welcome you to our first edition of Dane News Today. In Dane News Today, we will bring you timely health articles along with a wide assortment of other features for you to enjoy and aid you in learning about the world of Great Danes and their needs. In our "Featured Articles" section, you will find educational articles on health research and health issues. Our Education Committee and the staff of Dane News Today are searching the globe, seeking out information and up to the minute news reports on what is happening in the world of veterinary medicine and research. We will also provide you with interesting articles about the care of Great Danes. There will be regularly featured articles about health care, training, grooming, and other health related topics that will aid you as you journey through your life with Great Danes. Please look for great ideas in the "Hannah's Helpful Hints" section. Information given in the "Kid's Corner" seeks to the enlighten and involve the young people in our breed. We aim to encourage the children and to help them to learn about responsible dog ownership with a hint of fun mixed in. This may give our breed new hope for the future as the children grow to adulthood. The section "Ask the Vet" will serve as a medium for asking our consulting vets any general questions for which you would like an answer. Please see this section for more details. In the "Meeting of the Minds" section, which will debut in our next issue, you will find tips and useful information within a storyline that will make you look forward to each new issue. We are certain you will enjoy this glimpse into a family of Great Danes and their humans. During the past year the Education Committee of the Great Dane Health Foundation of America, Inc. tried to transform a dream into a reality. While a lot of work lies ahead of us, it is all beginning to take form and substance is being added. We are excited about the prospects. We have many interesting works in progress and will share them with you in the months ahead. Please come back and visit us often in order to find out what's new and exciting in Dane News Today. We are part of a large community of Great Dane owners, breeders, exhibitors and friends who truly care about the health issues facing our dogs today. We believe that through education all of us can become good and responsible Great Dane owners.
