Please remember that the spring and summer months are here. You need to be very cautious with your dogs making sure to keep them properly hydrated. Use extreme caution when traveling with them during the hot months. Keep them safe and please keep them cool!

Please remember this is heartworm season. It is time to take your pet to the vet and have it checked for heartworm and then start it on monthly heartworm preventative medication. In some areas where heartworm is prevalent, owners may wish to continue using the monthly preventative medication on a year-round basis.

Speaking of medication, do you have an emergency kit in your home and vehicle for your pet? Spring is a good time to check any medications for their expiration dates, properly dispose of the ones with expired dates and replenish your supplies.

Spring is also the time for planting and working in your gardens. Before you plant, it is wise to check that the items you plant are not toxic to your pet.
